The William Jennings Bryan Statue Garden includes an already established AAS (All American Selection) award winning garden in the town Salem, Il along Route 37, a well- traveled street that is positioned east of a larger traditional city park. The garden began as a grass roots project in 2006. Additionally in 2013 a special Tribute Garden was added that was supported by the city with donations from individuals and local businesses. It has continued to evolve through today with additional hardscape features such as a pergola, seating, historic lamp posts and more.
This is a garden setting that has colorful, fragrant plants and flowers, with nature abound. On a typical day you will see butterflies going from flower to flower or birds taking a bath in the bubbler fountain located at the Tribute Garden section. There are skate parks and playgrounds in the community for children to run, but this setting is for those who are looking to relax and enjoy the beauty in a lovely garden setting. A place to enjoy nature.
Our goal now is to ensure the gardens can be more fully utilized and enjoyed beyond what it can be in its current design and fixed features. Our ongoing efforts for the existing garden space allows further opportunities for residents to enjoy spending time in it rather than just being a “walk through” garden.
