“Sweet Greens” in May
The May 2017 meeting of the DDGC began with a field trip to Salem’s very own “Sweet Greens.” 16 members were joined by owners Dorinda Everett, Dan and Carma Miller who gave an in-depth presentation on growing fresh produce in a high tunnel environment. Dan was particularly adept at explaining the importance of soil testing, the watering system, and a need for an ongoing fertilizer adjustment plan. Sweet Greens even tests the leaves of the plants on a regular schedule in order to determine fertilization adjustment. Following an outstanding presentation, members gathered at the Village Garden in Salem for dinner, and the monthly club business meeting.
